BIENNIAL ALBIGNASEGO: PRESS CONFERENCE IN PADUA

European Biennial of watercolor to Albignasego




Eighty selected works, among the 255 participants in the eleventh edition of the European Biennial of watercolor will be on display October 9 to 24 in the splendid setting of the seventeenth-century Villa Obizzi Albignasego. The exhibition will conclude the 2010 edition of the Biennale, organized by the Pro Loco and the City of Albignasego with the support of the Province of Padova and Fondazione Antonveneta. The review was presented this morning in St. Stephen's palace by the Provincial Culture and Identity Venetian Leandro Comacchio Mayor of Albignasego Massimiliano Barison and the Director General of the Fondazione Bruno Bianchi.

Albignasego confirmed in this edition, the high cultural value reached in its twenty years of life, attracting the participation of more than 155 Italian and foreign artists. Among the selected works on display at Villa Obizzi in the foreground and the winners of this eleventh edition, Nostalgia Paduan artist Emanuela Colbertaldo (first prize), The Bronze Lion in Piazzola sul Brenta Vicenza illustrator Damian Bellino (second prize) Tulips and Dutch Ke Tholen (third prize).

The Biennale of watercolor has always been competition and exhibition, a showcase of the best watercolorists, Italians and Europeans. In order for the competition there are 3 purchase award for the value of € 1500, respectively, 750 and 500. This year's jury (made up Gabriel Niero, art critic - Venice, Maria Beatrice Rigobello Autize, art critic - Padova Massimo Scifres, painter and art critic - Udine; Vitulo John, master of art - Padova) has awarded the first three prizes respectively at work "Nostalgia" Emanuela Colbertaldo - Padua opera "The Bronze Lion in Piazzola sul Brenta" by Damian Bellino - Arcugnano (Vicenza) and the opera "Tulips" by Adrienne Kusters - Tholen (Netherlands).

The jury has given special recognition for his career with three masters of the watercolor, which have participated several times at the Biennale and won several awards: Alberto Balestra - Venice Sergio Bigolin - Galliera Veneta (Padova) and Ennio Toniato - S. Giorgio in Bosco (Padova). A special mention was made of 10 entries nominated for the particular scenes and the originality of the solutions. They are:

"With this project - said Bianchi - Antonveneta Foundation continues to be present in the life culture of the Paduan territory, promoting a major event not only for the stimulus that provides the artistic sull'acquarello, but also for the contribution they provide the social and economic development of the territory. We hope that this event will make Albignasego the European Capital of watercolor. "

The exhibition opens Saturday, October 9 to 16. Visiting hours of the Biennale is from Tuesday to Friday, 9-13 and 14-18, Sunday 10, Saturday 16 and Sunday 23 from 10am to 12.30pm and from 16 to 20. Monday, closed.
